Recent developments in Roundup® cancer trials

Several new developments in the cancer Roundup® trials in 2022 led to settlements for illnesses related to Roundup®.

The lawsuits alleging Roundup® use caused cancer are numerous and have been ongoing for many years. Several new developments occurred during 2022, leading to multiple settlements for illnesses related to Roundup®.

the latest news on the roundup® lawsuit

By May 2022, Monsanto, the developer of Roundup®, had settled more than 100,000 lawsuits involving Roundup®-related illnesses. The plaintiffs in these cases received compensation after courts found that their exposure to Roundup® was the cause of their health concerns. Monsanto paid plaintiffs more than $11 billion in these cases.

At that time, more than 30,000 cases were still pending. Many involved multiple cases per suit, so the courts could rule on specific issues in groups rather than hearing the same question numerous times in different proceedings.

In June, the Supreme Court rejected two appeals by Bayer AG, the company that purchased Roundup® from Monsanto. These actions upheld rulings in lower courts to award $25 million and $87 million to California residents who felt their cancer was caused by their use of Roundup.

Also in June, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals urged the Environmental Protection Agency to re-evaluate its conclusion that Roundup® is not harmful to people or the environment.

In July, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Bayer did not give adequate warning on the product’s label that Roundup could cause cancer. Bayer had argued that federal law shielded it from such claims.

Still, Bayer won several victories in court cases. However, the company was also denied a summary judgment based on its federal preemption argument.

Many lawsuits are pending and in various stages as plaintiffs around the country seek reparations for the cancers and other diseases they believe were caused by using Roundup.

roundup® settlement agreement

Of the cases filed against Bayer and Monsanto, approximately 80% have been settled with Roundup® settlement checks 2022 for those suffering from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and other cancers ranging from $5,000 to $250,000.

Bayer Roundup® settlement news seems to indicate that Bayer has allowed the weaker cases to go to court, hoping to secure easier wins and set a court precedent. The strong cases the company has had less hope of winning typically get settled.

how to file a claim

If you have been diagnosed with cancer, especially non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and believe it to be connected with Roundup, you can take a free claim eligibility check to see if you qualify for compensation.

The statute of limitations in your state affects how long you have to file a claim against Bayer. In most cases, you have two to three years to bring forward your claim. However, in cases such as those against Bayer, that statute of limitations may not begin when you last used Roundup®.

The amount of compensation you could receive depends on the details of your case. These include:

  • Severity of your illness
  • How long you’ve been ill
  • How it’s affected your daily life
  • Any mental anguish you have suffered as a result of illness or treatment

The clock may not have begun counting down until you were diagnosed with cancer, even if it’s been years since your last exposure to Roundup. It may even have started counting down at the moment you first realized your cancer was caused by Roundup.

If you believe you have cancer due to Roundup® exposure, you could be entitled to compensation. Our dedicated team is ready to support you on your time-sensitive path toward getting the justice you deserve. File a claim today to begin your journey.
