The lawsuits surrounding JUUL® claim that they knew its e-cigs were not safe for users and pose risks of provoking nicotine addiction in people already addicted to cigarettes. New York Attorney General Letitia James announced that the state is suing JUUL® Labs, Inc for “deceptive and misleading” marketing to youth. Similar lawsuits against JUUL® have also been filed in California and North Carolina. A house subcommittee hearing in July brought about the revelation that JUUL® representatives had spoken directly to students during school assemblies on youth e-cigarette use back in July 2019.
