JUUL® is the popular USB-shaped smoking device manufactured by JUUL® Labs. JUUL® claims that ”Juul’ing” is a safer alternative to smoking cigarettes. However, recent studies found that JUUL® and other e-cigarette brands actually expose users to a number of dangerous health risks commonly associated with cigarettes.

02

Despite JUUL’s mission to provide a healthier alternative to cigarettes, the company has become the subject of multiple lawsuits charging it with negligence, fraud, and other violations that have led to injuries and nicotine addiction suffered by users, including teens.

03

The lawsuits surrounding JUUL® claim that they knew its e-cigs were not safe for users and pose risks of provoking nicotine addiction in people already addicted to cigarettes. The JUUL® lawsuits also allege that they knew its nicotine solution delivers more nicotine into a person’s bloodstream than a traditional cigarette and at a much quicker rate.

04

Rather than disclose the truth, JUUL® continued to distribute false and deceitful information on its website and develop marketing campaigns targeting the youth. JUUL® claims that its devices are exclusively intended for adult use, but they appealed to young people because they are easily charged on a laptop and come in different flavors such as mango and fruit medley.

JUUL sued for deceptive and misleading claims about their e-cigarettes.

New York Attorney General Letitia James announced that the state is suing JUUL® Labs, Inc for “deceptive and misleading” marketing to youth. Similar lawsuits against JUUL® have also been filed in California and North Carolina. A house subcommittee hearing in July brought about the revelation that JUUL® representatives had spoken directly to students during school assemblies on youth e-cigarette use back in July 2019.
